Salary Information

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $65,000 to $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Description

Teaching & Learning:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to meet the needs of students, aligning with the OSSD grade 9-12 curriculum.
  • Evaluate student progress, identify areas of improvement, and provide targeted support.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes creativity and motivation.
  • Manage classroom behavior and ensure a fair and orderly environment.
  • Utilize various teaching strategies to deliver course content and objectives effectively.
  • Leverage resources to enhance teaching and learning.

Safeguarding & Student Communications:

  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment that empowers students to take risks and challenges.
  • IDentify students requiring special learning support or additional academic assistance and develop remedial programs as needed.
  • Provide guidance and advice to students on academic matters.
  • Foster an environment of mutual respect, encouraging students to ask questions confidently and freely.
  • Assist students in taking responsibility for their actions by setting realistic goals and expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with mentors, providing updates on student progress in a professional manner.
  • Attend relevant academic and student well-being meetings, as well as collaborative planning sessions.

Administration & School Support:

  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and planning.
  • Participate in organizing events for students, parents, or the wider community.
  • Support the school's operational systems in all areas.
  • Attend staff meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Contribute to school induction activities for new teachers.
  • Attend school meetings as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a major in Mathematics.
  • OCT qualification is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the current OSSD grade 9-12 curriculum, including assessment, evaluation, and reporting expectations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • High proficiency in applying technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Strong communication and multi-tasking abilities.
