We are seeking an intermediate to senior-level Project Architect with post-secondary experience to join our professional Architecture team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about post-secondary architecture and possess a collaborative, curious, and creative approach to problem-solving.

Your role as a Project Architect will involve working independently to assist clients through the planning and creation of projects that are rooted in a deep understanding of their needs, are fiscally responsible, and represent design excellence. You will participate in diverse project teams, managing workflow and production activities, while ensuring client satisfaction with the process and product.

You will also be expected to assist in business development activities, nurturing existing client accounts and seeking to grow our client base through building new relationships and project pursuits. As a member of our design team, you will help reinforce a collaborative and engaging environment for the teams you lead, while ensuring design excellence, exceptional project delivery, and the highest levels of client satisfaction across Alberta.

The salary range for this position is approximately $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. This estimate is based on industry standards and the location of Edmonton, Alberta.

As a Senior Project Architect at Stantec Consulting International Ltd., your key responsibilities will include:

  • Advocating and inspiring creativity, critical thought, and design excellence
  • Incorporating the overall design intent of the project into detailed documentation
  • Monitoring the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration
  • Leading communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors
  • Taking an active role in the production of project deliverables
  • Meeting with clients and conducting presentations
  • SUPPORTING BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
  • Assisting in identification and recruiting of design staff
  • Fostering collaboration between Stantec offices
  • Acting as a mentor and coach to junior design staff and interns
  • Evaluating the quality of design and design activities
  • Participating in performance reviews
  • Overseeing and participating in the production of design award submissions
  • Engaging staff in dialogue on design
  • Acting as a vehicle for the delivery of the firm's message on design
  • Identifying and directing project photography and written descriptions

  • Demonstration of general knowledge of building construction systems

This role requires a professional degree in Architecture (Bachelor's or Master's) and registration as an architect in the Province of Alberta, with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience. Experience in providing consulting services to Higher Education / Post-Secondary clients is an asset.
