Packaging Development Role

This key role reports to the Manager, Packaging Development, and is responsible for proposing new packaging solutions for turnkey projects. Key responsibilities include assessing packaging components for functionality, automation, and product interactions for new and existing programs.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to manage the packaging component development and assessment process from start to finish. This includes primary components, secondary printed, and tertiary packaging requirements.

  • Liaise between Product Development, Production, Sales, Project Management, Research & Innovation (R&I), Plant Engineering, Quality, and Procurement on all component and packaging-related issues.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to propose and assess components/packaging for design, functionality, and suitability for use on current and proposed manufacturing lines.
  • Manage client expectations for secondary printed components' print quality and colour management.

Candidates should possess post-secondary education in Packaging/Mechanical Engineering, College degree in Packaging Technology and/or equivalent work experience. A minimum 2-5 years related work experience in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, or Packaging Environment is required. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, a team player, able to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Key qualifications for this role include:

  • Post-secondary education in Packaging/Mechanical Engineering or College degree in Packaging Technology.
  • Minimum 2-5 years related work experience in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, or Packaging Environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills.
