Security Systems Application Specialist

Job Summary:

The Security Systems Application Specialist will be responsible for executing the supply and installation of various security system projects, including engineering design, programming, commissioning, and client training. This role requires strong leadership skills, time, and organization management, as well as the ability to liaise with all levels of the client experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with project turnover meetings to gather information for engineering design.
  • Develop panel layouts, network layouts, and wiring diagrams using Ainsworth engineering tools.
  • Select materials, including access control modules and peripheral devices, to meet project requirements and specifications.
  • Develop project commissioning checklists for startup, checkout, and commissioning.
  • Program and functionally test all components within a complete security system installation.
  • Maintain personal accessibility and communicate with field technicians, office sales, and clients/vendors.
  • Work with the Project Manager to ensure timely issuance of as-built documents and project-specific close out documents.
  • Maintain knowledge of various security solutions, including hardware, software, tools, and applications.
  • Analyze and advise owners and contractors regarding security application strategy and available options.
  • Locate and use resources on issues beyond personal technical expertise.
  • Participate in team and Engineering meetings, contribute input and feedback, and drive improvements in company processes and methods.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technician/Technologist Diploma and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Security System Installation, Design, and Commissioning.
  • Progressive experience in a technical role within the integrated security or low voltage industry.
  • Strong understanding of Security System Solutions and ability to appraise existing systems components and recommend technical solutions.
  • Experience working with consultants and contractors, and coordination of integrated projects.
  • Knowledgeable regarding governing building, electrical, and mechanical codes, ASHRAE, and NFPA standards.
  • Ability to provide strong leadership skills and work independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write in both French and English.
