Pediatric Plastic Surgery Opportunity

The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Associate Physician to join our team in the Division of Plastic Surgery at BC Children's Hospital and Women's Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rounds on surgical patients with team members to provide comprehensive care.
  • Performs and documents admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and medication reconciliations.
  • Participates in the management of day-to-day patient care, including writing medical orders and enabling patient transfers.
  • Orders investigations and follows up on results.
  • Arranges consultations with other departments/divisions for patient care.
  • Participates in discharge planning and responds to in-hospital emergencies.
  • Communicates with families, consultant physicians, and referring physicians regarding patient management plans.
  • Performs procedures within scope, including wound assessment and care, and assists in the operating room and emergency room.
  • Provides teaching and supervision for medical students and residents.
  • Attends morbidity and mortality rounds and participates in quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
  • Minimum of two years of accredited postgraduate training in pediatrics or a surgical discipline, verified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
  • Successful completion of the Royal College Subspecialist Examination Affiliate Program in Pediatric Critical Care.
  • Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia in the Associate Physician class.

The successful candidate will be committed to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada and have knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples.
