Job Summary

The Human Resources Advisor is a key role within Hydro Ottawa, responsible for providing exceptional service to internal clients and resolving employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Main Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR services, providing support and guidance to employees and management teams.
  • Utilize communication scripts to handle various topics and ensure consistency in service delivery.
  • Identify client needs, research issues, and provide solutions and alternatives using applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Support employees and leaders with benefits, pension enrollment, recruitment, absence, labor relations, safety, training, and other HR key processes.
  • Perform basic HR transactions with quality assurance in HR Technology, as required.
  • Elevate client inquiries to Tier 3 Centre of Expertise Specialists or HR Partners, as per established procedures.
  • Maintain and improve quality results by adhering to standards and guidelines, recommending improved procedures.
  • Promote self-serve portals and HR programs, policies, and procedures to clients.
  • Build sustainable relationships and engage clients by exceeding expectations.
  • Maintain an effective "bring forward" system to support daily inquiries and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Stay up-to-date with HR policies, procedures, and educational opportunities to enhance job knowledge.
  • Ensure calls are answered according to established service delivery standards.
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting to support business decisions.
  • Stay informed about changes to policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain key data for reporting purposes.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, preferably Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a Human Resources environment.
  • Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
  • Previous experience in a client support role.
  • General knowledge of Human Resources policies, processes, and systems.
  • Experience in providing excellent client service.
  • Effective communication skills, including active listening.
  • Familiarity with Service Centre call tracking systems and practices.
  • Familiarity with HR processes and systems.
