About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our department, you will provide high-level administrative support to our team, ensuring the smooth operation of our daily activities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide administrative support to the department, including calendar management, travel arrangements, and meeting coordination.
  2. Manage departmental correspondence, including responding to emails, preparing outgoing mail, and maintaining accurate records.
  3. Assist with budgeting and financial management, including tracking expenses, preparing financial reports, and making recommendations for cost savings.
  4. Coordinate events, including planning, organizing, and executing logistics, catering, and venue arrangements.
  5. Develop and maintain filing systems, manuals, and other materials, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  6. Support project assignments, including data collection, report preparation, and presentation.
  7. Perform other administrative tasks as required, ensuring the efficient operation of the department.
Requirements
  1. High school graduation, including post-secondary courses in office administration and Microsoft Office products, plus completion of post-secondary accounting courses and two (2) years directly related experience.
  2. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  3. Fast, accurate typing skills (60 words per minute); ability to format various types of correspondence and complicated reports, forms, charts, and presentations.
  4. Good command of the English language to respond to inquiries, correct spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors, and compose correspondence.
  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  6. Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
  7. Ability to follow high-level instructions and work with detailed information.
  8. Previous experience with event planning for large groups.
  9. Familiarity with energy utility operations specifically related to business development, project management, and associated functions.
