Lead Server Software Engineer (Python and Django) Overview

Push Interactions, Inc. is on the lookout for a talented and seasoned Server Software Engineer to enhance our dynamic team. We value individuals who are dedicated to producing exceptional work on critical software solutions. In this role, you will be tasked with developing and sustaining server-side software primarily using Python and Django, while also engaging with other platforms as project requirements dictate.

This position requires in-person collaboration at our office. Relocation may be necessary prior to commencing employment.

Candidates must possess the legal right to work in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary focus will be to deliver backend services that support our mobile applications and to construct complex, secure web applications for our clients, often manifesting as extensive web applications with substantial databases. Additionally, you will be expected to mentor fellow developers, contribute to project planning and estimation, share innovative ideas to enhance our processes, and help the team meet deadlines while ensuring the delivery of high-quality applications and user experiences.

Typical Daily Activities
  • Developing new or enhancing existing web applications
  • Creating new services for application consumption
  • Conducting code reviews
  • Estimating upcoming project timelines
  • Providing architectural insights for APIs
  • Assisting colleagues in problem-solving
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of software development experience
  • Proficient in Python programming
  • Ability to design new API specifications and implement them accordingly
  • Commitment to developing and maintaining mission-critical software
  • Strong collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary team
  • Initiative to deliver functional software efficiently
  • Enthusiasm for working within an iterative agile development framework
  • Consideration for long-term software maintenance during development
  • Familiarity with Git version control
  • Awareness of current trends and advancements in server development technologies
Educational Background
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher (preferred)
  • Additional Skills (Preferred)
  • Experience with Django framework
  • Familiarity with Google App Engine
  • Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks
  • Understanding of unit testing and test automation tools
  • Experience in developing web services and APIs for mobile applications
