Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant to join our Assurance & Accounting team at MNP. As a trusted advisor, you will play a key role in providing business strategies and solutions to clients across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Compiling, reviewing, auditing, bookkeeping, and tax engagements for clients;
  2. Setting up files for new clients and managing multiple files simultaneously;
  3. Performing accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and disposition, and payroll walk-throughs with clients;
  4. Preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports to summarize clients' current financial status;
  5. Evaluating the appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and prepaid expenses;
  6. Reviewing, investigating, and correcting discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports;
  7. Establishing charts of accounts and preparing entries for posting to accounts;
  8. Preparing correspondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts, and highlights;
  9. Developing effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members;
  10. Participating in business development initiatives and identifying new business opportunities;
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  1. A CPA designation;
  2. 2-4 years of relevant public accounting experience;
  3. In-depth knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
  4. Experience working with accounting and tax software;
  5. An understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.
