Job Summary

The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Preschool Assistant to join our team on a seasonal basis. As a Preschool Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and implementation of a variety of activities for preschool-age children in our community recreation programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing a safe and enjoyable preschool program in coordination with the Preschool Instructor.
  • Lead and implement scheduled program activities, ensuring a high level of quality and engagement.
  • Deliver a variety of activities, including circle time, free play, and crafts, in accordance with program goals and objectives.
  • Assist in implementing special events and theme days, promoting an environment of safety and respect among participants.
  • Maintain effective communications with parents, public, and colleagues, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for all.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during program hours, monitoring and controlling access to the program and facilities.
  • Provide customer service and recreation education to residents, responding to and recording customer feedback in accordance with ISO standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion of Grade 12 high school diploma is required.
  • Minimum one year experience related to the delivery of recreation programs, with a focus on preschool-age children.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and planning skills, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to provide a current Criminal Reference/Vulnerable Sector Check.

What We Offer

  • A competitive hourly rate of $19.56 per hour.
  • A non-union position with flexible hours, including Monday to Friday, various shifts between 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., and Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
