Health Information Management Clerk

Providence Health Care is seeking a skilled New Patient Referral Clerk to join our Health Information Management team.
About the RoleThe New Patient Referral Clerk will be responsible for receiving, recording, and processing physician referrals and re-referrals, determining outpatient appointment priority, booking related appointments, and requesting supporting patient documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Process referrals and re-referrals received from physicians and hospital units
- Determine appointment priority by evaluating patient information
- Organize and maintain a system for review of referrals
- Process written or verbal instructions from triage physicians
- Book new patient appointments and perform data entry
- Carry out pre-registration duties prior to patient appointments
- Review patient needs and refer to appropriate services as needed
- Grade 12
- Two years' recent, related experience completing referrals or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Ability to keyboard at 40 w.p.m.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
