Job Summary
A Clinical Mentor at Cornwall Community Hospital is a seasoned Registered Nurse with frontline experience who will be employed in a supernumerary position to provide guidance and support to newly graduated nurses, internationally educated nurses, and nurses looking to upskill. The Clinical Mentor will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Educator and/or Manager to facilitate a successful transition into practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting nurses in developing the knowledge and skills necessary for practice within the clinical environment
- Acting as a professional role model and maintaining positive relationships with various teams
- Facilitating learning opportunities and collaborating with nurses to identify and develop learning goals
- Providing regular feedback and coaching to support continued professional growth and integration into the hospital
- Facilitating socialization of nurses into the team and the culture of the unit
Requirements
- A Registered Nurse with current clinical expertise in nursing skills
- 2-3 years' experience on the respective unit (Acute Medicine/Women & Children's Health/Inpatient Mental Health) preferred
- Experience in Clinical Education/Teaching of undergraduate nursing students or other relevant teaching experience
