BioVectra Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.
This 8-month work term position involves performing lab scale synthetic work, participating in scale-up to pilot plant level, and interpreting modern analytical techniques. The successful candidate should have organic chemistry experience and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Performing lab scale synthetic work and raw material evaluation.
- Participating in scale-up to pilot plant level.
- Interpreting modern analytical techniques such as IR, UV, GC, HPLC, and NMR.
- Developing waste disposal methods which meet regulatory requirements.
- Investigating and developing equipment cleaning procedures.
- Preparing purified intermediates for use as analytical standards.
- Developing appropriate in-process QC procedures in conjunction with analytical chemists.
- Following the company's quality management system procedures and cGMP regulations.
- Organic chemistry experience.
- Previous chemical experience would be considered an asset.
- A strong background in analytical chemistry is also recommended.
- Ability to switch from project to project with ease, as well as multi-task.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact with professionals and technical specialists in related disciplines.
- Excellent organizational skills.
