The Enterprise Architecture team at Scotiabank plays a pivotal role in shaping the bank's technological and structural direction. As a Senior Principal Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, governing, and driving the global technology strategy.

This position offers significant exposure to senior executives, business line leaders, and stakeholders. You will lead the execution of key initiatives, collaborating closely with technology teams to bring the strategy to fruition.

  • Work closely with senior leadership, business partners, and technology stakeholders to develop vision, strategy, and focus areas for transformation.
  • Lead the prioritization and development of implementation roadmaps to address gaps and ensure solutions align with enterprise vision.
  • Develop viable business cases focusing on moving towards target state technology architecture and capabilities, including target state reference architecture, gap analysis, initiative cost/benefit analysis, hardware/software costs, and resource forecasting.
  • Lead project workstreams, including problem-solving sessions, workshops, and interviews with cross-functional and business line working team members and subject matter experts.

Stakeholder Management

  • Present and communicate with our CTO, engineering heads, and other senior leaders on an ongoing basis to gather feedback, report progress, and solve issues.
  • Work closely with technical teams and SMEs to ensure technology initiatives are delivered on time, within budget forecasts, and deliver value identified at inception.
  • Collaborate with non-technology teams, including business lines, HR, Finance, and Risk, to ensure technology initiatives meet business needs and are integrated within the bank effectively.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate with others within the team and across the Bank to ensure effective delivery of projects.

The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or technology/architecture leadership, with significant experience as a Project Lead or Engagement Manager. A focus on technology consulting in the banking domain is an asset. The successful candidate will possess exceptional planning and analytical skills, with the ability to discern research information/data and focus on critical business issues. An undergraduate degree in business or engineering, with a graduate business degree/MBA being a strong asset, is required. Additionally, excellent knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential.
