Destination Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior Board Liaison to join our Ottawa team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in inspiring travelers to explore Canada.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Board meetings, activities, and operations, ensuring adherence to our governance framework. You will also support the Corporate Secretary in establishing and administering an effective corporate governance framework and a productive relationship between the Board and Management.

As a Senior Board Liaison, you will require strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and project management abilities. You will be able to multitask, manage multiple deadlines, and handle sensitive and confidential information.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and organizing all Board and Committee meetings and events
  • Attending Board and Committee meetings, preparing minutes and agendas, and presenting on governance-related matters
  • Drafting memos, reports, resolutions, and governance documents
  • Providing guidance to Board members on organization policies and procedures
  • Identifying issues and recommending improvements to our corporate governance framework, structure, and Board policies and processes

Essential Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Graduation from a recognized university in Business, Communication, Law, or other relevant discipline or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least five years of relevant experience in corporate governance roles
  • Experience providing Board services
  • Experience in event and/or meeting planning
  • Experience drafting documents and reports of a confidential nature
  • Experience working with high-level senior executives, Board members, and/or government officials

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of the principles and best practices of corporate governance
  • Knowledge of the operation of Board meetings and duties of Directors
  • Knowledge of corporate records and reporting requirements in the context of a federal Crown corporation
  • Knowledge of Destination Canada's corporate governance framework, policies, mandate, and legislative framework
  • Knowledge of project management practices and methods
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and practices
