About the Role

Gerrie Electric Wholesale Ltd. is a leading electrical distributor with 24 key Ontario locations and over 400 employees. As a Training and Development Specialist, you will play a crucial role in helping our employees develop the skills they need to succeed in their roles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training programs for employees across all branches
  • Collaborate with Directors, Branch/Resource Managers, and Executive to identify training needs and develop solutions
  • Prepare and deliver training sessions on various topics, including product training, health and safety, and soft skills
  • Coordinate and schedule health and safety training, as well as forklift theory and practical evaluation, first aid training, and other specialized training
  • Log all training, upload certificates, and maintain records to ensure continuity
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and prepare training materials for CI
  • Own the logging, records, and controls of all training and assessments
  • Prepare monthly reports for managers and directors
  • Identify training needs based on employee inquiries, IT department, and ISO coordinator
  • Conduct assessments following training to ensure employee competence
  • Provide continuous improvement training and facilitation using project tools, such as Value Stream Mapping, 6Sigma, Blitzes, and other problem-solving techniques
  • Collaborate with the Director of HR to identify career paths based on competencies and develop training to fill gaps
  • Provide training for root cause analysis for customer complaints
  • Coordinate testing groups and processes for ERP updates and customizations
  • Roll out training related to ERP changes, enhancements, and upgrades
  • Work with IT and/or consultants to thoroughly test customizations
  • Ensure all procedures, process flows, and training documents are revised to reflect ERP changes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in an HR Training related field
  • 3+ years of experience with adult learners
  • Excellent knowledge of adult learning theories, learning designs, and delivery
  • Capability development experience in industrial settings is an asset
  • Knowledge of OHS Legislation
