Job Summary

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a limited term position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. The successful candidate will teach a variety of post-baccalaureate courses in applied data science and lower-level statistics/mathematics courses, and participate in departmental activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of post-baccalaureate courses in applied data science, including Simulations for Modelling, Optimization, and Analysis, and Multivariate Statistics for Applied Data Science.
  • Teach lower-level statistics/mathematics courses.
  • Participate in departmental activities and contribute to the development of new courses.
Qualifications
  • Evidence of outstanding teaching of lower-level statistics and/or data science courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to students of various backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to develop new courses.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and take initiative where needed.
  • A PhD degree in Statistics or Data Science is preferred, but other academic qualifications may be acceptable if a candidate has a strong Statistics/Data Science background and extensive related teaching experience.
