Job Summary

FLINT Corp. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our estimating department, you will be responsible for leading the production of high-quality estimates, providing leadership to the team, and developing cost estimates that meet our clients' and projects' needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Estimating team, including assigned direct reports, to ensure the delivery of high-quality estimates.
  • Teach and mentor new and developing team members to ensure their technical and commercial competency, depth, and strategic thinking.
  • Assign incoming estimates to the team with direction from the Estimating Manager.
  • Adhere to and lead the FLINT Corp. Gate review process.
  • Support the Proposals team and internal stakeholders by leading and managing the Estimating team to deliver high-quality estimates, including RFQ development, take-offs, B2W data entry, peer reviews, and clarifications.
  • Review Rates of Placements to align with the bid-win strategies.
  • Provide reporting and strategic insights of the estimating function to the Manager of Estimating.
  • Manage the review, edit, and approval of estimate input from the estimating team.
  • Oversight of the administration of the B2W database.
  • Attend site visits as desired.
  • Continue Senior Estimator duties as assigned by the Manager of Estimating.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • An engineering degree or technical diploma, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an estimating role, including piping, structural, civil, and pipeline.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop strong relationships with team members, direct reports, management, and executives.
  • Excellent technical acumen.
  • Collaborative attitude in working with members of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
  • Ability to review and comprehend construction drawings and documents (P&ID, Ortho's, Iso's).
  • Thorough knowledge of cost-estimating processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction and implementation methodology.
  • Must demonstrate a collaborative attitude in working with members of a team.
  • Excellent ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate and organized documentation.
  • Significant knowledge of all project management functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of estimating software, methods, and techniques.
