Lead Estimating Professional

About This Opportunity:
TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Lead Estimating Professional to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will be responsible for compiling cost estimates for clients and potential clients with products or services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile accurate and detailed estimates from various sources, utilizing engineering support as needed.
- Develop a thorough understanding of indirect and conceptual estimating techniques and theories.
- Evaluate and validate outsourced estimates with input from engineers.
- Present estimates in a clear and concise manner, adhering to Owners Reporting format.
- Analyze Design Basis, Engineering Design Documents, and Basis of Estimate to inform estimating decisions.
- Develop comprehensive estimates for selected projects, incorporating site visits, quantity take-offs, pricing, and presentations for cost engineering and management review.
- Provide expert estimating input on complex “conceptual” projects.
- Mentor non-estimating personnel on estimating-related tasks and provide guidance as needed.
- Participate in project planning sessions and team meetings to contribute estimating expertise.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with the estimating team, management, clients, and industry contacts; establish relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing purposes within estimates.
- Develop or assist in creating general and project-specific plans for execution, sequencing, and logistics; include construction and work procedures when required.
- Create or aid in developing preliminary project schedules.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Bachelor of Commerce Degree (BCom), Construction Management Certificate, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
- At least 7 years of experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering, with a minimum of 3 years of estimating experience in projects ranging from $1M to $50M.
- Strong understanding of construction documents and ability to assess completeness.
- Technical knowledge of estimating practices, techniques, and equipment.
- Accurate data input and calculating skills.
- Familiarity with construction costs and budgets, ability to develop project schedules.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Project, and Excel.
- Able to read drawings and specifications.
- Ability to validate proposals, manage multiple priorities, and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Capable of identifying problems/issues, considering wider implications, and generating possible solutions.
- Verifiable work references demonstrating exceptional skills and achievements, including:
- A high level of professionalism; dependable, results-focused, and ethical.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and planning skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to adapt information/style to the audience, explain difficult information clearly, and influence/persuade others towards consensus agreement in straightforward situations.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $130K-$140K, based on experience + benefits.
