We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Education Assistant to join our team at School District #23 (Central Okanagan). As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in assisting and supporting students with diverse abilities in the K-12 education system.
Key Responsibilities- Under the direction of the Resource Teacher, assist with and support student(s) by working together in a team environment, tutoring students, modifying and preparing specialized teaching materials, compiling and updating student records, and monitoring student behavior.
- Transport and accompany students as described in the IEP(s), and as covered by school district Field Trip Policy. Some of these activities may include swimming, hiking, skiing, etc.
- Assist with lifting, feeding, personal care (toileting), and supervision for special needs students in the school, as requested by Principal and/or Resource Teacher.
- Successful completion of Grade 12 and a Certified Education Assistant program.
- Equivalent qualifications will be considered if you have relevant post-secondary education and current working experience supporting children, youth and adults with diverse abilities and needs.
This 10-month position offers a competitive wage rate of $28.81 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits plan, including extended health and dental care, and participation in Municipal Pension Plan. CEA's giving personal care to students will be paid at a higher rate at $28.07 per hour.
