Job OverviewThe Senior Mechanical Designer plays a pivotal role in designing mechanical devices that drive machinery development and large structure construction. This position requires close collaboration with Project Managers, Shop Personnel to ensure project success.
Main Responsibilities- Design various mechanical devices for custom projects, including conveyors, platforms, and other components primarily used in the food and pharma industries.
- Create 3D drawings of equipment using layout diagrams, sketches, and notes.
- Participate in kickoff meetings, liaise with Project Managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project success throughout the project.
- Take ownership of projects from concept to design, fabrication, and installation.
- Develop extensive knowledge of product lines, preferred practices, and applicable industry standards.
- Regularly communicate project status with key stakeholders.
- Lead and contribute to product development, product realization, and continuous improvement projects by working cross-functionally with the Innovation and Manufacturing groups.
- Creation, expansion, and maintenance of engineering standards and design libraries.
- Mentor and/or train junior team members on company standards, best practices, and design processes.
- Act as a technical team lead and primary contact point for internal stakeholders on assigned projects.
- College Diploma/University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of Mechanical Design experience, preferably in a custom manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in Solidworks (or similar 3D software) and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of Solidworks PDM preferred.
- Design experience with exposure to structural and/or stainless-steel products.
- Familiar with working with weldment functions, sheet metal functionality within a 3D software.
- Ideal experience includes working with conveyor systems and/or sanitary equipment used in the food industry.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work with engineering teammates and shop floor staff.
- Competitive Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum.
