About This Opportunity

As a Primary Care Physician at Nova Scotia Health Authority, you will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment that values patient-centered care and teamwork. Located in Digby, our clinic operates as a turn-key facility with two physicians, four Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and Licensed Practical Nurses working together to provide comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages.

We are seeking a dedicated physician to join our team, which consists of an on-call roster and inpatient care responsibilities. You will also have access to procedure rooms for minor procedures and the option to participate in Emergency Department coverage at Digby General Hospital. Our team holds regular meetings to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.

Digby General Hospital provides a wide range of medical services, including cardiac respiratory services, continuing care, diagnostic imaging, emergency medicine, laboratory services, medical unit, mental health and addiction services, palliative care, physiotherapy, public health services, occupational therapy, nutrition and diabetes counseling, speech therapy, and telehealth room services.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
  • Ensure timely delivery of workload and maintain accountable practice standards
  • Provide continuum of patient care with healthcare providers within your practice and community
  • Coordinate secondary and tertiary level healthcare services
  • Build capacity within the first two years (new primary care providers)
  • Operate according to Nova Scotia Health Authority Bylaws and Rules and Regulations
  • Maintain same day or next day access for the practice population
  • Collaborate with other team members to meet the community's health needs
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
  • Utilize electronic medical records and record all relevant patient details
Estimated Salary Range:

$120,000 - $180,000 per year

Qualifications
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
