Maintenance Tower Operator

Bay Ferries Limited is currently accepting resumes for a Relief Maintenance Tower Operator based out of Digby, NS.
Bay Ferries Limited operates the Fundy Rose between Digby, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick.; this is a year-around ferry service that employs approximately 150 people.
**Reports To**:The Relief Maintenance Tower Operator reports to the Infrastructure Manager
**Duties**:
- Tying up and letting go of vessel when required.
- Operating and maintaining the vehicle transfer bridge.
- Possess a Class 1 driver’s license and clean drivers abstract.
- Operate/Maintain the Kalmar Yard Tractor.
- Setting up and uncoupling of drop trailers when required.
- Operating and general maintenance of yard tractors.
- Operating and general maintenance of forklift.
- Operating and general maintenance of zoom boom.
- Operating and general maintenance of John Deere Farm tractor and associated parts.
- Operating and general maintenance of all company vehicles.
- Operating of minibus to shuttle passengers on and off the vessel when required.
- Loading and unloading freight on and off delivery trailers when required.
- Organize and maintain all warehouse stores.
- General maintenance of buildings and grounds of facilities.
- Maintaining maintenance records for all the above for Saint John (or Digby) terminal.
- Perform daily maintenance check lists.
- Assist all third-party contractors when required.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- (Digby Only) Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant.
**Education, Experience, Abilities and Licenses**:
- Continuous Certificate of Discharge (Discharge Book).
- WHMIS is required (Company provided training).
- Accessibility Training is required (Company provided training).
- Workplace Harassment & Violence Prevention Training is required (Company provided training).
- Written and verbal communication skills, including conflict resolution, are sufficient to perform the position's duties.
**Working Conditions**:
Maintenance Personnel can expect to work shifts as per the Collective Agreement. The work takes place on land, in various weather conditions where the environment may be either hot or cold. Most of the time is spent standing, with regular walking, kneeling and moderate lifting.
