Job Summary:

The Associate Chair is a key leadership position at Algonquin College, responsible for providing management functions in support of the Chairs of the Academic Departments in the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate student complaints and review academic appeals to help avoid unnecessary hearings.
  • Monitor academic dishonesty cases and facilitate the completion of grade review processes.
  • Manage probationary students and students on academic contracts, working with the Academic Integrity Office.
  • Enhance the student experience, onboard other-than-full-time faculty, and chair Program Councils.
  • Facilitate student retention initiatives and provide administrative support to the Academic Chairs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a four-year degree related to management, education, social sciences, and/or a related construction field.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in increasingly responsible roles.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to teaching excellence and quality education from a student perspective.
