We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Engineer to join our team at Next Power Inc. as a key member of our engineering department.

Job Summary:

The Survey Engineer will be responsible for conducting economic analyses, feasibility studies, and developing procedures to clean up contaminated sites. They will also plan and design highway/roadway projects, act as project or site supervisor for land survey or construction work, and conduct site visits to gather relevant information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct economic analyses and feasibility studies to identify potential project sites and assess their viability.
  • Develop procedures to clean up contaminated sites and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and design highway/roadway projects, including the development of construction specifications and procedures.
  • Act as project or site supervisor for land survey or construction work, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Conduct site visits to gather relevant information and conduct technical analyses of survey and field data.
  • Develop construction specifications and procedures, and ensure that construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations.
  • Establish and monitor construction work schedules, and evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials.
  • Interpret, review, and approve survey and civil design work, and supervise technicians, technologists, and other engineers.
  • Offer mentoring and coaching to junior engineers and technicians.
Requirements:
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association.
  • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster.
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment.
  • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Veterans.
  • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people.
  • Offers mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
  • Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees.
  • Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
  • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports mature workers.
  • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities.
  • Applies hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities.
  • Offers mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities.
