Senior Pension Specialist

As a Senior Pension Specialist, you will play a critical role in leading data analysis activities for the PATH program. You will identify, inventory, prioritize, and collaborate to resolve data defects, ensuring the success of the PATH program.

This role requires expertise in pension domain and OPTrust system data to develop and oversee the execution of new processes, templates, and related training programs. You will detect, recommend, and implement solutions to complex data integrity and pension administration issues with employers, internal business support partners, and developers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Data Analysis: Establishes and coordinates internal work processes, procedures, and controls related to data migration and reconciliation, data mapping/extract for calculations and statements, and standard reporting requirements.
  • Reporting and Presentations: Prepares and delivers statistical reports and presentations on results/findings/recommendations related to migration activities, identifying issues/risks to operational data management functions, and documenting trends and problems with data.
  • Process Improvement: Responsible for ensuring analysis and remediation activities are managed appropriately, reflective of data migration scheduling, and maintaining supporting documentation.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Provides or liaises with related subject matter experts to gather technical information/guidance on matters such as pension legislation, reciprocal transfer agreements, and plan documentation, as well as administration requirements on future administrative procedures.
  • Relationship Management: Relationship manager for members, employers, and internal business to support successful system implementation and associated change management.
  • Training and Development: Creates training and communication materials for various audiences, including members, union groups, employers, prospective employers, and internal staff, for pension system implementation processes.
  • Solution Implementation: Recommends and implements solutions for complex data integrity and pension administration problems and issues that arise.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborates with PATH team members, other internal, and external stakeholders to support quality assurance activities, including support for external audit, reconciliation/control reporting, and unit/user acceptance testing activities.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

What You Bring

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma.
  • Completion of PPAC or CEBS certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of pension plan administration and related legislation/Plan provisions.
  • Proven experience with database systems operations, preferably with pension administration systems in use at OPTrust or equivalent within the industry.
  • Effective mathematical aptitude and proficient research, analytical, and reporting abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, self-starter with solid project leadership skills, agile experience an asset.
  • High degree of accountability and personal leadership, effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in client service orientation, dealing effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders with sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact.
