We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join our team at Optimum General Insurance. Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute business plans for assigned brokers to achieve profitability, growth, and retention goals.
- Promote and present Optimum General Insurance's commercial products to brokers, focusing on profitable growth and retention.
- Make risk selection decisions within assigned authority levels, ensuring optimal risk management.
- Identify opportunities for new commercial and regional program business, and develop productive relationships with assigned brokers.
- Maintain awareness of market trends, price levels, legal requirements, and case law applicable to commercial underwriting.
- Negotiate to develop and maintain a profitable book of business.
- Provide technical training, coaching, and development support as needed.
- Minimum of three years of progressive mid-market commercial underwriting experience.
- CIP designation (or enrollment).
- Ability to select, underwrite, and manage small, intermediate, and large commercial accounts.
- Account development and analysis skills.
- Knowledge of broker/insurance company relationships and ability to apply this knowledge to underwriting.
- Comprehensive ability to understand, respond to, and effectively manage broker/customer concerns.
- Knowledge of competitors and the insurance market.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Good team player.
