Chief Operating Officer
About the Role:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the Chief Ambulance Officer, Executive Vice President BCEHS. The COO works in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and the Chief, People, Culture and Diversity (CPCD) to create an effective, integrated service delivery model, driving system-wide improvements to meet the growing demand for emergency services and ensuring consistent and equitable services across BC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Improve efficiencies to reduce response times
- Review approaches for various call categories
- Work with health authorities to improve turnaround times
- Develop workforce strategies
- Enable innovation in emergency health services delivery
Accountability:
The COO is accountable for providing executive leadership on strategic and operational issues in planning, monitoring, and evaluating province-wide emergency health services, including overseeing the BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) and Patient Transfer Services (PTS). The COO works with the CMO and CPCD in a co-leadership model, sharing responsibility for the overall people and performance of BCEHS.
