About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Deafblind Intervenor to join our team at the Vancouver School Board (School District 39). As a Deafblind Intervenor, you will play a vital role in supporting students who are deafblind, providing them with the necessary assistance to access education and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students who are deafblind, using a multisensory approach to facilitate learning and communication.
  • Collaborate with teachers, educational assistants, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Use tactile sign language and other communication methods to support students who are deafblind.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as eating, dressing, and personal care.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students who are deafblind.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A strong understanding of deafblindness and its impact on students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational environment.
