At Alberta Health Services, we are committed to delivering exceptional care to our patients. As a Pediatric Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing top-notch care to children and families.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at Alberta Children's Hospital Unit 3. You will be responsible for providing ongoing supervision and care for the physical, psychological, and emotional/social needs of children, youths, and families admitted to Unit 3 within a framework of Patient/Family Centered Care.

You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community, or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs.

Requirements
  • Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
  • Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered
  • Non-violence crisis intervention (NVCI) course
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers (i.e., Connect Care, Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to communicate fluently both verbal and written in English
  • Minimum one year experience within the last five working in some capacity with children
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within an interdisciplinary team
  • Previous experience in a health care environment
  • Ability to work under time constraints, within fast-paced changing environments
  • Previous experience in working with mental health and/or eating disorder patients
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Alberta Health Services offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan and paid time off.
