About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infection Prevention and Control Specialist to join our team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of infection prevention and control across our long-term care facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Infection Prevention and Control Efforts
    • Develop and implement comprehensive infection prevention and control strategies to minimize the risk of infection transmission
    • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Teams
    • Work closely with healthcare teams to develop and implement infection prevention and control policies and procedures
    • Provide education and training to staff on infection prevention and control best practices
  • Investigate and Manage Infection Outbreaks
    • Investigate and manage infection outbreaks in a timely and effective manner
    • Develop and implement strategies to prevent the spread of infection
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Developments
    • Stay current with the latest infection prevention and control guidelines and best practices
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills
Requirements
  • Education and Certification
    • RN/RPN degree or diploma and current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN or RPN
    • Completion of an approved IPAC Canada infection control course
    • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or LTC-CIP
  • Experience and Skills
    • Previous experience in long-term care and knowledge of applicable directives
    • Knowledge of epidemiological trends, public health, and population health assessment
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the HPPA and the Ontario Public Health Standards
