Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead our project teams and drive business growth. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign engineering projects to engineers or other technical workers
  • Consult with clients to determine project needs and develop project plans
  • Coordinate work activities to ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets
  • Direct and control daily operations, including supervising and mentoring team members
  • Plan and control budget and expenditures, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency
  • Provide detailed information and guidance to clients on project analysis and design, including technical specifications and requirements
  • Review engineering projects to approve or recommend changes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures for engineering work, including quality control and assurance
  • Authorize the development of specifications for products or services, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Evaluate technical designs and engineering work, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed
  • Oversee the analysis of data and information, including market research and competitor analysis
  • Oversee the preparation of reports, including project status updates and technical documentation
  • Advise senior management on engineering matters, including strategic planning and business development
  • Manage contracts, including negotiation and administration
  • Develop risk management plans, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Lead and instruct groups, including project teams and cross-functional teams
  • Maintain and manage digital databases, including project management tools and engineering software
  • Supervise working groups, including engineers, technicians, and other support staff
  • Participate in committees, including industry associations and professional organizations
Requirements
  • Provincial and Territorial professional engineer registration
  • Strong background in mechanical engineering, including design, analysis, and testing
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, including team supervision and mentoring
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines and working under pressure
  • Attention to detail, including quality control and assurance
  • Client focus, including excellent written communication and customer service skills
  • Judgement, including decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Organized, including time management and prioritization skills
  • Team player, including collaboration and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the oilfield construction industry
  • Specialized environmental skills and knowledge, including environmental impact assessment and sustainability
  • Electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and structural engineering experience
  • Mechanical engineering technology experience
