Job Summary

Northern Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist II to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the development of our pharmacy services.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered pharmacist to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for assessing and recommending individualized treatments, acting as a primary resource for drug information, education, and expert advice to healthcare professionals. You will also monitor drug prescribing, distribution, and therapy to ensure safe, effective, rational, legal, and economic use of drugs.

• Maintain workload records and statistics

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy and current licensure with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia
• Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program or a combination of at least one year of hospital experience and advanced education courses
• Active membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists is encouraged

Skills and Abilities

• Assessment and treatment: demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions
• Teaching: ability to teach patients and others both one-on-one and in groups
• Knowledge integration: integrates best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions
• Communication: demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, the public, medical staff, and members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written, computer communication means
• Critical thinking: demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively
• Human caring and relationship-centered practice: ability to promote patient-centered care that demonstrates care for and with patients and families, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, patient advocacy, and social justice concerns
• Management: demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives, and establish priorities
• Leadership: promotes staff morale, engagement, and empowerment
• Teamwork: demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of patient care
• Equipment: demonstrated computer skills including the use of Cerner and Windows-based programs
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
