Halifax Water seeks a skilled Exercise Health Specialist to join our team.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in Kinesiology to assist in improving workplace occupational health and wellness. As an Exercise Health Specialist, you will support the Occupational Health and Hygiene Practitioner in disability management, health-related programs, and benefits provided by Halifax Water.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage leaves, return-to-work, wellness, and other health-related programs.
  2. Collaborate with employees to understand their physical health goals and assess job demands.
  3. Work with WCB to develop rehabilitation programs, assess physical capabilities, and design exercise plans for injured workers.
  4. Create individualized physical and functional rehabilitation plans for employees on long-term disability.
  5. Conduct workstation reviews, provide functional testing, and develop wellness programs to prevent injuries and manage chronic conditions.
  6. Implement outcome-oriented services and therapy plans as directed by the Occupational Health and Hygiene Practitioner.
  7. Establish expected outcomes, discuss service implementation options, and determine sources and duration of service to meet client goals.
  8. Participate in multidisciplinary team case management coordination.
  9. Provide education on physical health topics and develop return-to-work schedules for employees who have experienced illness or injury.
Requirements
  • A university degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or related field is required.
  • Experience practicing in Kinesiology and/or industrial workplace settings is an asset.
  • Familiarity with working with organizations such as WCB, LTD, and disability management is advantageous.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan, is also offered.
