About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Architect to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our Cyber Security & Digital Solutions department, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing technical solutions that meet the needs of our users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver technical architectures that balance usability, data security, sustainability, and cost, while considering input from business stakeholders, vendors, and internal technical teams.
  • Lead projects through the Architecture Review Board (ARB) approval process, from conception to implementation of the live Production system.
  • Conduct options analysis, reviewing current systems functionality and providing recommendations on cost, usability, data security, scalability, re-usability, configurability, multi-tenancy, and sustainability.
  • Create architecture diagrams and communicate the solution architecture to all concerned parties.
  • Engage with CSDS operations and technical teams to coordinate implementation.
  • Provide consulting and advisory services to leadership and teams within CSDS and partner departments, participating in RFP development and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to turn concepts into user-centered services and promote best practice.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology + 5 years related experience; or graduation from a recognized Information Technology Program + 5 years and 6 months related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to provide innovative IT solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships, gain consensus, and drive change.
  • Effective communication skills, with experience working at a strategic level to understand business challenges and craft comprehensive solutions.
  • Independence in high-level operations with a strong sense of curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Understanding of modern tech stacks (Python, Django, MySQL, OpenShift, GitLab,.NET, Angular, etc.).
  • Experience designing, developing, or supporting modern open-sourced software solutions is considered an asset.
