About the Department:

The Cyber Security & Digital Solutions (CSDS) department is dedicated to enhancing digital transformation efforts across government services. Our focus is on creating user-centered, efficient, and impactful digital services that meet the needs of all Nova Scotians. We strive to modernize outdated systems and processes, ensuring that our digital offerings are accessible and user-friendly.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Technical Architect, you will report to the Web Delivery Manager and collaborate with a team of developers and various stakeholders to establish systems that align with our web strategy. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing the technical architecture for our web channels.
  • Leading the implementation of architectural solutions.
  • Developing and executing web technical solutions.
  • Setting strategic and operational objectives through planning and evaluation.
  • Conducting thorough analyses of technical challenges and translating them into effective design solutions.
  • Seeking opportunities for collaboration and component reuse, engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Managing budgets and contracts effectively.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in building enterprise-level websites.
  • Strong background in architecting and implementing web technologies, including content management systems like Drupal and WordPress.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based web infrastructure, including networking, security, and databases.
  • Ability to foster partnerships and collaborative relationships across diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Proficient in organizing and prioritizing tasks to meet strategic objectives.
  • Experience in leading change and managing project risks effectively.
  • Decision-making capabilities in the development and management of high-quality digital products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation and best practices.
  • Experience in modernizing legacy systems while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices.
