About Providence Health CareProvidence Health Care is a leading health and wellness resource for all British Columbians. We are committed to treating those we serve - and each other - with compassion and respect. Our organization provides a range of coordinated emergency, inpatient, outpatient, specialized diagnostic and treatment services, and provincial services for people with serious mental illnesses, including those with addictions.
Job DescriptionThis is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care. As an Emergency Nurse Specialist, you will work within an interdisciplinary clinical framework, assessing, identifying, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care required to assist patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs.

- You will provide direct nursing interventions for management of crisis and life-threatening situations, monitoring patient/resident progress, evaluating outcomes, reassessing if goals are not met, and modifying the plan of care based on evaluation.
- You will document information, including assessments, plan of care, patient/resident status, and progress, and discharge plans in a manual and/or computerized environment.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and be able to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will also possess strong analytical and decision-making skills, and be able to prioritize and organize your workload efficiently. Additionally, you will be able to lead patient/family group sessions, teach and identify patient/resident learning needs, and provide clinical direction.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Current practicing registration with BCCNM as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
- Two years' recent experience working in a tertiary care emergency department and/or two years' recent medical/surgical experience with an approved post-basic emergency nursing specialty program.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to apply decision-making and analytical skills.
We offer a competitive salary of $83,000 - $113,000 per year, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
