About the Position

The Fire Sprinkler Fitter is a vital role that ensures the successful completion of assigned projects by coordinating with Labour Supervisors and Project Managers. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer focus, an impressive safety record, and be able to lead a successful team with dedication.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  1. Collaboration with Labour Supervisors/Project Managers to optimize production for assigned and special projects.
  2. Implementation of quality and safety controls/practices that result in a safe work environment and superior project installations with zero-time loss due to accidents.
  3. Care and use of all company-issued vehicles, equipment, and tools, protecting property from deterioration, damage, theft, and maintaining cleanliness and proper maintenance.
  4. Submission of weekly timesheets to the Payroll Department on requested dates and times.
  5. Attendance at pre-construction, coordination, and job progress meetings as necessary to ensure complete understanding of our position on the project and communicate necessary information to the project team.
  6. Coordination with Labour Supervisors and Project Managers to recommend sufficient timing between material delivery and project start to satisfy project schedule needs.
  7. Participation in scheduled in-house meetings/training and contribution of recommendations for improvement.
  8. Support in the development and training of field personnel in good installation procedures to create and maintain a high degree of professionalism and safety practices.
  9. Provision of technical consultation and support to company apprentices, technicians, designers, and shop employees.
  10. Response to other duties/responsibilities assigned by Labour Supervisors and/or Project Managers from time-to-time.
  11. Submission of written job progress reports on all assigned projects as requested by Labor Supervisors.

This role also requires:

  • 5+ years of experience installing and servicing sprinkler/fire protection systems.
  • Membership in good standing with UA Local 853.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.

The physical requirements of this role include:

  • Capability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
  • Flexibility to work flexible hours.
