Job Summary

The Greater Essex County District School Board is seeking a qualified English as a Second Language Instructor to join our Continuing Education Program. As an ESL Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality language instruction to adult students, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and collaborating with colleagues to achieve program goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging language instruction to adult students, focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement program curriculum and assessments.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in language instruction.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and respectful school culture that values diversity and promotes equity.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in TESL, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Valid Ontario Teacher's Certificate.
  • TESL Ontario Accreditation (or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hiring).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Experience working with adult learners and in a continuing education setting is an asset.
