Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in a medicine or surgery unit. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to patients in an acute inpatient area.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough patient assessments, collect information from various sources, and make nursing diagnoses to determine the best course of care.
- Collaborate with patients and their families/caregivers to develop and implement individualized care plans, promoting patient autonomy and dignity.
- Participate in the care and discharge planning process, ensuring effective care planning and delivery, and collaborating with the interprofessional care team as needed.
- Coordinate nursing care, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to support staff, ensuring efficient and effective care delivery.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, and healthcare professionals, using verbal, written, and electronic communication means.
- Teach patients and families/caregivers about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance, promoting self-care and independence.
- Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
- Participate in research and quality improvement activities, identifying patient care issues, collecting data, and recommending corrective actions.
- Attend in-services and educational programs, maintaining current clinical competence and knowledge within the area of practice.
- Act as a preceptor or mentor to new nursing staff and students, sharing knowledge and expertise.
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment, provide nursing care, and communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
Ability to promote person-centered care, integrate and evaluate data, and problem-solve effectively.
Ability to teach and instruct patients and families/caregivers about essential health care topics.
Ability to organize and prioritize work, collaborate with the interprofessional care team, and use relevant research-based evidence/evidence-informed practice.
Ability to operate related equipment, including computer applications.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
