The Assistant Director of Care is a key leadership position responsible for directing and mentoring care staff to ensure high-quality, resident-focused care. This role acts as a professional role model for all staff and maintains accountability of all nursing staff to ensure that care is appropriate.
Key Responsibilities- Engage and mobilize the care team to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Model the values and leadership behaviors of the organization and inspire others to do the same.
- Monitor and supervise the care provided to residents, conducting audits and providing corrective actions as needed.
- Participate in care conferences, med reviews, and quality improvement meetings.
- Assume the role of a nurse on the floor in the event of staffing shortages.
- Communicate with physicians and residents' families to provide information regarding care.
- Hire clinical staff as needed and participate in performance management and reviews.
- Lead monthly meetings with care staff and participate in occupational health and safety meetings.
- Review and follow up on internal incident reports.
- Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- A degree in nursing and progressive nursing experience and education, demonstrating leadership and administrative skills.
- Minimum of three years' work experience in management/administration and geriatrics or a suitable combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand and give verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work within electronic environments and manage conflict.
