Job Title: Part Time Thrift Store Clerk

The Salvation Army is seeking a Part Time Thrift Store Clerk to join our team. As a Thrift Store Clerk, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, sorting and processing donations, and assisting with the daily operations of our thrift store.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Protect the integrity of all donated items.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Sort and process donations, including loading and unloading, sorting, packing, pricing, and storing.
  • Interact with customers and donors in a positive and courteous manner.
  • Contribute to meeting store budgets by maintaining customer service standards.
  • Provide information to customers about products and services.
  • Assist with store layout and visual merchandising.
  • Unload donations and place stock in the warehouse.
  • Contribute to inventory control by retrieving, sorting, hanging, and pricing items.
  • Remove inventory from the sales floor as directed.
  • Abide by store policies and procedures.
  • Work with volunteers as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Completion of Secondary School.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience.
  • Cash handling experience is required.
  • Knowledge and experience using a cash register, debit machine, and/or credit card processing is an asset.

  • Basic math skills required.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible.
  • Ability to maintain information in confidence and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
  • Good listening skills and strong oral and written communication skills.
