Job Summary

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a skilled Developmental Services Worker (DSW) to join our Complex Care and Recovery Program. As a DSW, you will work with clients who have complex mental illnesses, developmental disorders, and dual diagnosis disorders. Your primary responsibility will be to provide support and care to clients, ensuring their safety and well-being in a therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with clients who have complex mental illnesses, developmental disorders, and dual diagnosis disorders.
  • Provide support and care to clients, ensuring their safety and well-being in a therapeutic environment.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, social skills building, and provide input to clinical processes.
  • Participate in groups, clinical team reviews, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in clinical documentation and other duties as assigned.
  • Support a healthy workforce that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Developmental Service Worker diploma from a recognized college. Direct experience working with clients who have dual diagnosis disorders is essential. You will also need to have a competent understanding of behavioral treatment protocols, knowledge of responsive behavior, and crisis prevention and intervention skills. Familiarity with the use of psychotropic medications is preferred. You will possess demonstrated skills and experience in the delivery of person-centered planning and the coordination of comprehensive and meaningful activities that promote recovery, enhance clients' quality of life, and promote socially acceptable behaviors.

Working Conditions

This position involves 12-hour shift rotations, weekend work, and potentially night shifts. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse group of clients and staff. You will need to be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with clients, staff, and other stakeholders.
