Job Summary:

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health - CAMH is seeking a skilled Developmental Services Worker to join our Complex Care and Recovery Program. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will work closely with clients who have complex needs, providing support and promoting their independence, dignity, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to clients with dual diagnosis disorders, working collaboratively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Contribute to the organization and optimal function of the units, promoting the independence, dignity, and social, emotional, and cultural well-being of clients.
  • Develop and implement person-centered plans, coordinating comprehensive and meaningful activities that promote recovery and enhance clients' quality of life.
  • Utilize behavioral treatment protocols, including management techniques, to support clients in achieving their goals.
  • Work effectively with complex clients within a team approach, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) combined with computer literacy.

Requirements:

  • Developmental Service Worker diploma from a recognized college.
  • Direct experience working with clients who have dual diagnosis disorders.
  • Competent understanding of behavioral treatment protocols, including management techniques.
  • Knowledge of and ability to manage responsive behavior, crisis prevention, and intervention skills.
  • Familiarity with the use of psychotropic medications.
  • Strong therapeutic relationship and advocacy skills.
  • Experience working with complex clients within a team approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) combined with computer literacy.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and First Aid certifications are assets.
  • Familiarity with ergonomics of safe patient handling is necessary.
