Job Opportunity: Teacher of the Blind or Visually Impaired

New Westminster Schools is seeking a qualified educator to join our team as a Teacher of the Blind or Visually Impaired. This is a full-time position in our district.

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate educator to work with students who are blind or have low vision. The successful candidate will have experience working with students with visual impairments and be able to provide individualized support to meet their unique needs.

Responsibilities
  • Teach students who are blind or have low vision in a variety of subjects, including literacy, mathematics, and life skills
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans to meet the needs of students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with other educators and support staff to ensure students receive comprehensive support
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in special education or a related field
  • Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
