We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our Virology team at the Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services (PLMS). As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the laboratory team in the analysis and testing of specimens.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and process incoming specimens, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
- Prepare specimens for testing, including staining slides, performing concentration procedures, and inoculating media.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, and testing equipment.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as data entry, labeling, and inventory management.
- Collaborate with the laboratory team to ensure efficient and effective specimen processing and testing.
- Completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program and one year of recent experience in a laboratory setting.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
