About the Role

At the Canadian Institute for Health Information, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our data development team, you will play a critical role in organizing and leveraging pan-Canadian data to support the production of key deliverables for internal and external dissemination.


You will be responsible for conducting data management activities, including writing and updating statistical code required for the development, computation, analysis, and/or verification of key deliverables. This may include support for the release of data and information through private and public reporting tools.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Participate in the management of CIHI data, ensuring it is fit for purpose, and to support the production of key deliverables for internal and external dissemination.
  2. Conduct data management activities, including writing and updating statistical code required for the development, computation, analysis, and/or verification of key deliverables.
  3. Maintain detailed knowledge of data, tools, and analytical techniques used to produce standard and ad-hoc outputs.
  4. Conduct environmental scans and literature reviews to support the development of reports, statistics, and indicators.
  5. Lead and/or contribute to the development of materials (e.g., analytical reports, methodology or technical notes, presentations, educational, media, etc.) for dissemination of findings and knowledge translation.
  6. Provide professional and timely client support to respond to internal and external client queries as required.
  7. Ensure adherence to, and ability to demonstrate compliance with, CIHI's privacy and security policies and procedures when using CIHI data and information.
  8. Maintain current knowledge of CIHI's data holdings, trends in health services research and health policy, and stakeholder information needs to support current work and contribute to the development of new analytic proposals.
  9. Participate in other meetings and corporate project teams as required.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in health or social sciences, or similar fields.
  • Three to five years related experience working with relational databases / large datasets, including manipulating, maintaining, and preparing data and presenting analyses and reports for different audiences.
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills with demonstrated experience in interpreting and writing results of analysis and synthesizing research.
  • Experience with data manipulation and conducting analyses using open-source software such as Python, R is essential.
  • Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in drugs for rare diseases, real-world evidence and/or registry data is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is considered an asset.
