Department Manager Assistant

Job Summary
This role is responsible for supporting the Department Manager in achieving company, store, and department goals. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, supervise department staff, and maintain a high level of quality and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide superior customer service and support the Farm Boy vision of the best fresh shopping experience.
- Supervise department staff and provide floor support, including delegating tasks, breaks, and readiness for business.
- Complete daily 2x2's for the department and ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers, and suppliers.
- Prepare, package, price, and rotate food products in accordance with established quality standards and ensure they are attractively displayed with correct signage.
- Assist with the training of new team members as required and provide coaching while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and trust.
- Assist with the completion of department service assessments and receive and accurately store department orders.
- Review and verify department invoices for accuracy and be responsible for resetting the department for the closing team and ensuring it is ready for business.
- Effectively communicate corporate and department information, changes, and updates to team members.
- Have a passion for food and knowledgeably handle all customer questions or comments confidently.
- Utilize Farm Boy Service Standards to welcome, greet, and offer customer assistance as required.
Qualifications
- Typically requires partial completion of a post-secondary program, plus a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Superior customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Clear and effective communication style, both written and oral.
- Ability to work with little supervision with a high standard for quality, attention to detail, and cleanliness.
- Good judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Fluency in English and French shall be considered an asset.
Work & Sensory Environment
- Required to stand for long periods of time during shift.
- Required to lift, carry, or handle heavy objects.
- May be required to perform repetitive and/or precise hand/finger movements.
- Required to adapt to temperature changes on occasion (working on the retail floor as well as in coolers, freezers, and outside).
