Data Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team at CB Canada. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data systems and pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement data transformation pipelines using Big Data tools and technologies
  • Collaborate with upstream data teams to develop data validation and test plans
  • Conduct analysis for moderate to complex data requests and present findings to stakeholders
  • Act as a lead developer to implement code changes in various environments and platforms
  • Work closely with the testing team to assist with issues raised in user acceptance testing (UAT) and Business Value Testing (BVT)

Requirements:

  • Advanced Database Skills & SQL
  • Experience with Big Data platforms, ideally exposure to Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Apache Hive, Apache Spark, SparkSQL)
  • Extensive programming experience in Java, C++, or Scala, IntelliJ, Jenkins
  • Good understanding of Relational (Oracle/DB2) and Hadoop Big Data platforms
  • Experience working with Jira

Working Location: Fully remote but PST hours
