Overview

SK Films is seeking a seasoned finance professional to lead its financial and business operations. With a 25-year history of excellence in the Giant Screen film industry, we offer an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Director of Finance and Business Affairs to drive the company's financial health.

About the Role

We are looking for a strategic thinker with expertise in accounting and financial management within the film and television industry. As Director of Finance and Business Affairs, you will oversee financial planning, reporting, film financing, contract management, tax incentives, and distribution agreements, ensuring the company's financial success and compliance.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of provincial and federal tax credits, including CAVCO requirements, and proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and advanced Excel skills. Key responsibilities include:

  • Film Production and Development Financial Management:
  • Develop detailed budgets, cash flow projections, cost reports, and provide ongoing financial analysis throughout the development and production phases.
  • Oversee the effective planning, receipt, and utilization of tax credits and government incentives, working directly with CRA auditors when necessary.
  • Film Distribution Accounting:
  • Prepare regular financial and distribution reports for investors and clients, in close consultation with the VP of Sales and Marketing.
  • Track and forecast revenue performance for the company's film library, collaborating with the VP of Sales and Marketing to maximize returns.
  • CORPORATE FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS ANALYSIS:
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, identifying opportunities to streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Prepare and present monthly project cash flows, revised financial projections, and key financial insights to the CEO.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 4-6 years of accounting/financial experience, with a preference for 2 years in film and television finance.
  • Exceptional accuracy and reliability in financial reporting and accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills with a strategic mindset for business affairs and financial management.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits and Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - 150,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a retirement plan and paid time off.
